Should I Buy The Anniversary Ring?

I want to buy my wife an anniversary ring, but she is not so sure that I should -- and it's her income too. We are saving for a cabin and she seems more interested in that than she is in more bling. To complicate matters, when we did look at rings, she settled on 2. I think that the one she seems to like more is too old-fashioned. Yet, she continues to tell me that this time (I let her pick out her engagement ring) it is all my decision. What to do?!?

idk if you can find her a beautiful ring without spending a lot of money and can still afford the cabin then go for it, as far as letting her choose! NOT it’s suppose to be a surprise as was her engagement but whatever but yeah you should buy her “a” ring of your choice and just make sure you don’t spend a bunch of money on it! k and if she doesn’t like it I’ll email you my home address and you can send me the ring:)
Why even buy a diamond?
Most diamonds still come from Africa and the child slavery used to mine these diamonds is torture…no other word for it.
Buying a diamond is tantamount to supporting abusive regimes, who pay slave wages and separate families, since often, workers are denied going to and from home because of the risk of smuggling, so they are forced to live in encampments, on site, for months at a time.
Put your money toward a cabin, or toward a vacation on a cruise ship.
Luckily, my wife wanted only the gold bands as she was against the cruelty inherit in the diamond industry. With the money we saved on a diamond, we took a cruise down to Nassau and the Bahamas. Money much better spent and memories and love that will last a lifetime.
Have you ever heard the phrase “It’s the thought that counts?” IMO, it’s an annoying saying when it comes to an expensive item that might not get worn because the style doesn’t suit the womans “taste” (Jewlrey and clothing tends to be very particular to a specific woman). So my advice is if you are going with an anniversary ring to pick the old-fashioned one (the one she likes).
With saying that, if you are dropping some serious cash on the ring but she would really like a cabin, why not simply drop a good chunk of change into a “Cabin fund” for your anniversary.

For my 10 year anniversary I got my wife a ring too but I only spent around $500 because I shopped and found a great deal (retail price was $1,700).
SO even if you spend $2,000 on a VERY nice ring it shouldn’t put a dent in a “cabin fund”! Heck a nice cabin should run you a minimum of $200,000 so spending $2,000 on a ring is only 1% of the minimum cost of a cabin! ! !
If she’s more interested in the cabin, then i would scratch the ring idea for now and save up for the cabin.
There is more of an investment there, and it could also represent the love you have for each other by having a place to call your own.
Maybe save the ring for the next milestone or something…good luck!

My parents have celebrated their 53rd (their 54th in is 3 weeks) . I gave them a new quilt for their 50th and am currently quilting another one. By the time they've been together that long, they generally have everything that they need. Ask them what they would like. My folks can't easily go out to a restaurant any more, so I periodically ask Mom if she wants a break from cooking and I go to a restaurant and buy them the whole meal and take it to them. Last week, it was barbecued ribs. They don't need stuff (although they needed quilts to replace blankets that are worn out).
